Yaupon is the only plant native to North America that contains caffeine. Alternate Names Yaupon holly, cassena, cassina, cassine, evergreen cassena, evergreen holly, Indian black drink, Christmas berry. Uses Ethnobotanical: Native Americans in the southeastern United States used this plant extensively.
